Opening, modifying and inserting back into EB

Hi,

My plan is to be able to open the file inside EB to perform some automated edits and then save the edited file as a new copy.
Looking for help to open the selected file that I have already placed into EB and also looking for the method to code the insertion of the file into the same location as the original file.
Is there already a method to do this? And if there is, can you kindly provide directions?
